Ecommerce technical SEO

Ecommerce technical SEO audits built around revenue

I start from the categories and templates that bring in your sales, find what stops them being crawled, indexed and ranked on Google and in AI answers, and give your developers a short list of fixes with the reason and the expected impact for each.

The problem

Where ecommerce sites break technically

Most technical problems on online stores come from templates and rules, so one wrong setting repeats across thousands of pages. The same fix at template level repairs all of them at once.

01

Crawl budget lost on filters

Colour, size, price and sort combinations create URLs with no search demand, and Google spends its visits there instead of on the pages that sell.

02

Products that never get indexed

Search Console fills up with “Discovered, currently not indexed” and “Crawled, currently not indexed”, and new products take weeks to appear.

03

Duplicates and wrong canonicals

Variants, collection paths and tracking parameters produce near-identical pages that split ranking signals between them.

04

Slow, heavy templates

Apps, scripts and large images slow down category and product pages, which hurts both rankings and conversion on mobile.

My approach

Audits that end up in production

Many technical audits list every warning a crawler can find, sorted by how easy it is to detect. Long reports like that tend to stay in a shared drive. Mine are ranked by what each issue costs you in sales.

Start from revenue

The audit begins with the categories, templates and markets that earn the most, and works outward from there. Issues on pages nobody buys from go to the bottom of the list.

A list your team can ship

You get a short, ranked list of fixes. Each one says what to change, why it matters and roughly what it is worth, so it can go straight into the next sprint.

Built for large catalogues

Faceted navigation, filter pages, products coming in and out of stock and stores in several countries: the problems that only show up once a catalogue grows.

What I check

The technical areas that decide how a store is crawled and ranked

Each area is reviewed on your real templates and data, and every issue comes back with its impact, the pages affected and the fix.

Crawling and indexation

Robots rules, XML sitemaps, index coverage in Search Console and, where available, server logs to see where Googlebot actually spends its time.

Faceted navigation

Which filter combinations deserve to be indexable landing pages, and which should be blocked, noindexed or canonicalised.

Variants and duplicates

Canonical rules for colour and size variants, duplicate collection paths, parameters and near-identical product pages.

Architecture and internal linking

Category depth, menus, breadcrumbs and links from content, so authority reaches the categories and products that matter.

Product lifecycle

How out-of-stock, discontinued and seasonal products are handled, with redirect rules that keep their rankings and links.

Structured data

Product, Offer, Breadcrumb and review markup, checked against the page and the Merchant Center feed so price and stock always match.

Speed and rendering

Core Web Vitals on real templates, third-party scripts and apps, image weight, and whether key content depends on JavaScript to render.

International setup

Hreflang, market and language URLs, currency and redirects for stores selling in more than one country.

How it works

From the first call to fixes in production

01

Tell me the problem

A short call or an email is enough. Bring the messy version: a traffic drop, an indexing issue, a migration coming up.

02

Scope and price

Before starting you get clear deliverables, a timeline and a fixed price, based on your catalogue and markets.

03

Findings as they land

I share each finding as soon as it is confirmed, with a developer ticket, so your team can start fixing before the audit is finished.

04

Checks and handover

I check the fixes on staging and after release. Crawls, data, scripts and documents stay with you when we finish.

Ways to work together

Start with what your store needs now

One-off

Technical SEO audit

The full audit, the priority list and the developer tickets, handed to your team to implement, with a call to walk through it.

Project

Migration support

Redirect mapping, template checks on staging and monitoring after launch, so a replatform or new URL structure keeps the organic revenue you have.

Monthly

Ongoing technical support

Technical SEO as part of a monthly retainer: regular crawls, release checks and new priorities as the store changes.

Trained professional and always available

What can I say about Simone? We collaborate on several projects and he is an important resource that I trust completely, both personal and professional side.

He has given an important SEO side boost to the various collaborations, both theoretically and practically, demonstrating important expertise and availability, and managing to stitch the “technical side” that Google likes so much, to the specific needs of the clients; two sides of the coin that are almost never perfectly aligned.

All work was handled in a timely and effective manner.

FAQ

Questions about technical SEO

What does an ecommerce technical SEO audit cover?+

Crawling and indexation, faceted navigation, variants and duplicates, site architecture and internal linking, product lifecycle, structured data, speed and rendering, and international setup where relevant.

Will I get a 200-page report?+

No. You get a short priority list and developer tickets, with the full crawl data and notes kept as a reference behind it.

What access do you need?+

Read-only access to Search Console, analytics and Merchant Center is enough to start. Server logs and access to a staging site help a lot when they are available.

Do you implement the fixes yourself?+

No. I deliver the audit, the priorities and developer tickets, and your developers make the changes. I review them on staging and after release.

How long does an audit take?+

It depends on the size of the catalogue and the number of markets. We agree the timeline before starting, once I have seen the store.

Do you work on Shopify only?+

Most of my clients are on Shopify, and I also work on WooCommerce, Magento and custom builds.

Can you help with a migration or replatforming?+

Yes. I map redirects, check templates on staging before launch and monitor crawl, indexation and rankings after the switch.

How soon will we see results?+

Indexation and crawl changes can show within a few weeks of a fix going live. The effect on rankings and organic revenue usually needs two to four months of data, and nobody can promise specific rankings.
